EXPLORING INSTEAD OF RULING – an improvised society
What happens if we understand rules and orders as a an entitiy that only existes in the presence? Can we life in a world where all certainty and security is only created in the moment where we meet other beings? Is it possible to transfer the idea of a contact improvisation jam, where connection is created in the presence also to the field of rules? Can we create an improvised society?

DESIRE – Sex, Spirit, and Choreography as Active and Receptive Practices
Can there be such a thing as an erotic relationship to the more-than-human? And if so, how can we and why should we cultivate it? In his current PhD research, David is looking at three areas of practice – sexual, spiritual, and choreographic – as different modes of engaging with the same question, and working with the connection – and separation – between the individual self and something greater.

C~I
What is improvisation? What is choreography? Binaries are everywhere, useful for their simplicity, but they often lead to limitations in thinking, perception, and action. Mixing academic citations with unplanned yet habituated movement, Andrew Wass will perform/ discuss/ question the binary of choreography and improvisation in relation to movement, leading (maybe) to a greater understanding and range of possibility of improvising with and in contact.
About Andrew
Hailing from Southern California, Andrew Wass is a choreographer, dancer, and researcher. His interests lie at the crossroads of philosophy, cognitive science, and improvised dance.
